ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS

What we need to create your proof:

  1. Artwork is in a vector format (e.g. .ai, .eps, .pdf)
  2. Text is converted to outlines if text is present in the design
  3. If converting to outline is not possible provide the font

The Process: we handle all the work

There is no need to do any work on your end. Our graphics department will handle laying art out in accordance with the optimal repeat length.

  1. You submit your artwork along with any specific requirements you would like to see in the final product.
  2. Your desired dimensions
  3. vertical/horizontal
  4. right hand or left hand pull
  5. Our experienced Artwork team creates a proof for your approval
  6. You approve the proof (if you want changes made we will continue to work with you until the proof meets your exact specifications
  7. We make the plates for the print jobYour custom print job is queued for printing

Vector vs Rastor

Vector images are mathematical calculations from one point to another that form lines and shapes.

Vector artwork is resolution-independent and can be scaled infinitely without any pixelation or distortion, while raster artwork can become distorted or pixilated when enlarged.

Raster images are made of pixels. A pixel is a single point or the smallest single element in a display device.

Bleed

Full bleed designs (printing to the very edge of the tape) is an option but there are issues that arise.
With full bleeds there are often very narrow areas along the edge that get missed by the plate due to possible lateral motion of the tape as it travels through the press.
There can also be small ink beads that occur on the sides of tape rolls when the plate prints just beyond the edge of the tape due to this lateral motion.

When our Art Team designs you proof we will supply a width that is at least .2 inches from the edge of the desired tape width in order to ensure the best possible print quality.

Gradient

Gradient or shaded art is acceptable and will result in screen dots that vary in density according to the lightness or darkness of a given area of the gradient.
